The Look Of The Show

Pink Inc. is known in the world of events, exhibits and interior design as the tension fabric structure collaborative partner of choice, for those who wish to create an impressionable, memorable event, exhibit, environment or experience worthy of recognition and applause.

At the living reveal for Toyota’s Prius, the team at Pink Inc., using custom designed costumes, enveloped the car in an ethereal sculpture form. At a set time in the music, the figures came to life, gently undulating, building into an unfolding and gentle movement away from the car, revealing the Prius. An unexpected, and uncommon, applause filled the press and media audience.

Using permanent structures, HOK Architects called on Pink Inc. to fabricate an office environment that gave common hallways a feeling of being on a natural path. Using a tree branch treatment on a permanent fabric structure, Pink Inc. created a comfortable zone to travel throughout the office. Using lighted pathways and stylized trapezoids floating above, the employees felt a sense of flow, winding their way toward their work stations. The professional installers and designers at the company navigated the challenges of sprinkler systems and electric outlets to create shapes that fit the pathway with fluid movement when suspended. All printed fabrics for this permanent structure were flame retardant.

Creating a fantastical atmosphere was also the theme at the Saks Fifth Avenue Beauty Event, Brushes with Greatness, in 2005. There, Pink Inc. tension fabric decor dressed all 31 windows on Fifth Avenue in New York City with gravity-defying, colorful fabric backdrops based on Mondrian-style window displays featuring fine cosmetics. Fabric wave walls and pockets of projected light transformed the retail environment into an intimate soiree. Winsome fabric Turning Birds arched gracefully overhead and a crystal ball twirled off the end of the tree of life tension sculpture. Upright columns and forms in flight filled the side walls and made staging areas out of corners. This form of experiential marketing and collaborative design are palpable to guests and leave them feeling as though the effort was made just for them.

When it is not only a special event, but an industry trade show – imagine an exhibit where center stage is truly at the center of the venue with events, demonstrations and presentations; where exhibitors use lighting and design to create a continuity of theme throughout. It would be a stylized event where attendees participate as VIPs and exhibitors increase visibility and sales by being part of the event – not just one more cubicle among many. It is the face of the new trade show. Pink Inc. includes its Look of Show as a contributor.

Creating an event with continuity of design is easy with Look of Show. Initial designs for creating environments for exhibitors are based on the needs of the industry and observations of the associated activities of traditional trade show. Pink Inc.’s circle surrounds, white out walls, wave walls or wave divider designs create a backdrop, divide exhibit booths, designate an entrance or registration area, or create a lounge environment. Pink Inc.’s designs incorporate the individual exhibitors into the overall event.

Pink Inc., in collaboration with Larry Abel De-Signs, Los Angeles, CA, created an edgy conference at the Biz Bash event in New York City using Pink Inc. designs. We varied lighting techniques to enhance every element of the show. The upright series drew guests into the central locations like a beacon, and the full moons and mod pods formed the backdrop of a majority of the booths, each with unique branding and style. The tree of life suspended over the bar and the spinning circle surrounds provided awe-inspiring focal points for the show’s evening events.

The Promax and BDA event is customarily a bi-coastal event, alternating coasts each year. But Larry Abel De-Signs was determined to create an event so spectacular that the annual conference would stay in New York City each year. So they turned to Pink Inc. Together with staging, lighting, dancers and performers, the show producers created a stylized exhibit and event like no other. The theme of the show was non-stop action. The fabric structures of Pink Inc. alternated between business hour vendor venues to night time celebrations reflective of New York’s nightlife personality.

“The team at Pink Inc. is easy to work with and very accommodating. They listen to your needs, respect your vision and collaborate with you to produce an outcome that far exceeds your expectations. They are professional in every way, from design to customer support to installation,” commented Larry Abel. The result of this collaborative endeavor was nothing short of spectacular. The Promax and BDA clients were ecstatic and the announcement came that New York City would be the event venue for the next five years.”

Exhibitors and trade show managers can use Look of Show to find a variety of unique branding opportunities for their displays, while maintaining a style reflective of the show design. This gives them a sense of ownership and pride, while preserving the show identity. eb
